How Passion Drives Confidence

A while ago someone asked me what is more important to being successful. Passion or Confidence. My answer was instinctive and quick.

Passion to me was the obvious answer. Here’s why: When you find something you’re passionate about… a job, a business, a person, a mission, whatever…it feeds your soul. It gives you that feeling of fulfillment and well-being that we all look for. Many times these things are a struggle to find.

To me, confidence springs from pursuing that passion and seeing the fruits enough to believe we can have it. Then, we DECIDE to raise the opinion we have of ourselves and become more confident.
Passion is the seed that grows confidence.

Think about the classic story of Journey’s new lead singer, Arnel Pineda. He was born in Sampaloc, Manila, in the Philippines. His mother, who had been suffering from rheumatic heart disease, died when he was thirteen. Pineda quit school lived basically homeless at one point in time.

Passionate for the music he knew he could do perfectly, he had many attempts to make his career launch. The owner of Journey saw a YouTube video that Arnel did imitating the band. Shortly after that they flew him in for the audition and he is now the leader singer for the band.

Many times, Arnel had to question his own confidence in chasing his dream. However, his PASSION drove him through to be the lead singer in the iconic band.
